Tile Calculator
Give the surface size and your tile dimensions and this returns the tile count with breakage, plus rough grout and adhesive quantities.
- Tiles without allowance

- Adhesive (approx.)
- 2 × 50 lb bag

- · Adhesive coverage assumes a 1/4 in notched trowel on a flat substrate.
- · Large-format tile needs a flatter substrate — budget for levelling compound.

-
01
Measure the tiled surface at its widest and tallest or longest points.

02
Enter the exact tile dimensions from the product specification.

-
04
Check the final tile count against the number of tiles sold per box before ordering.
Frequently asked questions
Does this account for grout joints?
The estimate is intentionally conservative and does not deduct narrow grout joints, leaving a useful margin for cuts and breakage.
Can I use it for wall tile?
Yes. Enter the wall width as surface length and wall height as surface height, then calculate each wall separately if needed.
How much extra should patterned tile need?
Allow 15–20% for diagonal, herringbone or heavily veined tiles that need careful alignment.
